Press Release: HPC’s Fastest non-Turbo ZX-14 in the world!
Hyperbike Performance Centers LLC: www.hyperbikecenters.com
by Gregory Price Williams

I would like to start this press-release off by clarifying my position and motivation behind our Land Speed Racing Team. I do not have a racing background by any means.  I am not a former drag racing superstar. Land Speed Racing is our very first occasion to compete in anything competitive with a sport bike of any kind. I am a twisty carver at heart and love roads with turns and twist and awesome scenery. In the LSR game we are clearly rookies but we are learning really fast. Respectfully so, I am just a regular guy who loves fast sport-bikes.

This sport is clearly fun … going fast in a safe environment without the fear of vehicles, hidden driveways or getting a 200 MPH speeding ticket is awesome. Special thanks to the East Coast Timing Association and the Texas Mile for giving speed freaks a platform to exercise our “need for speed”.

My love for fast sport-bikes combined with 24 years of street riding instilled a very strong interest in the ZX-14, hence ZX14.net. I also owned the ZX-14’s forerunner a 2005 ZZR 1200. We launched ZX14.net on a dare and it has evolved into one of the leading mature sport bike forums on the web. Our readers never to have worry that we will intentionally provide them with invalid information just to sell a product. Our performance center, Hyperbike Performance Centers is our 1-year old today store front business. Our business is based on a web based e-commerce system coupled with parts sales and service. We also assemble high end custom performance project bikes. We never realized we would be vying for a record or anything else while playing in this new to us sport but we came really close.

We concluded our first full Land Speed Racing season with our 2006 Kawasaki ZX-14 “Inferno”. “Inferno” is HPC’s, project bike. Our goal with this bike was to have great looks, advanced electronics and proven technology, most of all reliable and proven enhanced power. I can happily say we pounded this bike into the ground over the last three months and it clearly answered the call. Special thanks to KWS for the power plant (1450 CC motor). We made (8) passes on Inferno during this event, every pass was over 200 mph!

Our 2007 season closing event turned out great. We headed to the Maxton Mile with one intention. We wanted to surpass or knock on the door of the East Coast Timing Association’s MPS/F/1650 class record which was held by Charles May: a top speed record in the mile of  215.67740 MPH set in 2006 aboard a Suzuki Hayabusa. I knew it was going to take an experienced Land Speed veteran and we found that in Chad Millholland. Chad gladly answered the call. Hyperbike Performance Centers LLC, covered all of Chad’s expenses and had him come on out to the Maxton Airport to pilot Inferno down the former runway. We built, tuned, designed and prepped “Inferno” at my shop: Hyperbike Performance Centers. KWS Motor sports built our 1450 CC race motor which was built to run strong on motor and nitrous something a full stroker motor cannot do. We wanted an everyday rider which could gobble up some nitrous when needed.

Chad's best speed: 215.04349

Greg’s best speed: 202.3 at Maxton and 205.4 at the Texas Mile

We added every bit of existing technology for the ZX-14. The build list is huge and the expenses are even larger. It clearly cost money to go fast there is no cheap way about it. We addressed the performance and cosmetic appearance of the bike.

This Land Speed Racing season was full of lessons, trials and tribulation. Our business has only been open a year. Our crew members are current customers, not employees. We have come a long way in a short amount of time.  With a full season under our belt and some valuable lessons learned. We are eagerly looking towards 2008.

.... some additional really good news for ZX-14 owners a 2007 ZX-14 owned by Zach Millholland with only a power commander, MR9 and a full Muzzy Exhaust system ran 199.3  in the mile, no other tricks.......

Inferno: Currently the fastest non turbo ZX-14 in the world of Land Speed Racing. With more improvements and help from our sponsors expect bigger and better things next season. To all that had a helping hand: Thanks!
