My son is 17 and it was a hard decision to allow him to race my zx-14. It was only after I had made sure the bike wasn't gonna do anything stupid that I let him begin. Then any time I made a significant change in the set up I would always ride it a few passes first before allowing him back on it. That's how I ended up with the broken ribs, collar bone and puntcured lung and yes we changed it back before he was allowed to run it. Although I'm old and it takes me a lot longer to get over injuries he has his whole life in front of him and I don't want to do anything to cut it short so I will continue to do the test rides each time the set up is changed.

I agree he does have skills, and yes he is fast. On that second pass he was only straight til the 1/8 mile. After that he almost crossed the centre line then almost drove it into the opposite wall. I would like to know the track that allow a 12 year old to make a pass on such a powerful machine ? There has to be a rule about this right? I guess they allow high top flip-flops to be worn too. Scary
Nothing but respect for the young man.

I have a cousin that has raced motocross since he was a lot younger than twelve. He has broke his leg (that I know of) and lost a finger. I had rather my kids be running down a straight track at high speed in full gear. Awesome!!! :yelclap:

I am all for it. Kids can get hurt in sports like football. Get hit the wrong way and never walk again. Would you feel like it was your fault then? I am not saying all kids could ride this one, but if they have the talent and skill, then so be it.

If my son wants to race I'll build him whatever he wants. I'd rather him be on the track having the time of his life than out with no good friends doing god knows what. There's ten times the bonding involved too because he be right there with you wanting to learn what can be done to make him faster.
I have to agree with you on that one.

I think it's nuts to let the kid do this stuff. Not developed enough physically ( growth plates/ bone development ) or mentally. I see kids being trained at that age for future Super Bike racing and some have been getting killed doing it. Most kids have lightning fast reactions, just watch them play video games. I think the kids are being pushed to hard to young.

That's bad azz, being young and lite is a boost but he's got some skill no doubt. Not sure I could let me kid do it though.

I'm thinking young and innocent at that age and trying to impress his dad with his skills. There is no doubt he's talented, has great reflexes and knows how to ride. I just get this uneasy feeling based on how young he is that if anything went wrong and I was his dad, I'd never be able to forgive myself. I haven't heard this young man speak so I'd be curious as to his motivation. Respect for his ability, no doubt!
