The Wait!

In mid September of 2005, I developed the initial concept of ZX14.NET. I knew I wanted the site to be a forum based web site, but I wanted to do things a little different, based on my own personal experiences in the world of Internet motorcycle forums. ZX14.NET would ride on the heels of the momentum and buzz created by the press release of the ZX-14. With a bike this popular there would have to be a sounding ground, like all of the other forums full of motorcycle enthusiast. We found Create IT Simple a company out of Canada and they put my thoughts together on the web site.
My first thoughts were to create a site where we would feature some of the best aftermarket parts for the ZX-14. When I say feature, I mean the products we would hand pick and the manufacturers would have no competition. The manufacturer "Sponsor" would have a sole presence or "exclusivity" for the product. This does two things. The first, it creates a non-competitive setting for the company and secondly it re-enforces the "brand" amongst the niche audience. Since we feature no other motorcycles, our audience is the ZX-14 community. A community made up of mostly married males, ages 25-45 who are from middle to upper-middle class demographics with a average height of 5' 11" and weight of 185lbs.
I also wanted to take all the fun I had on group rides across some of the greatest roads in the northeast and combine all of that fun into three-day planned motorcycle trips or tours. Where motorcyclist from all walks of life could join us on spirited sport-bike rides, enjoy great dinners and nights closing with a whole lot of bench racing. We would wake the next day to do it all again. We offer guided tours to put all of those things together with some new friends and strange curvy places. ZX14.Net Guided Tours, sure to be a blast!
Our forum would be unique in the aspect that only members are allowed. No strange visitors jumping in to start non-sense arguments about matters not meant for motorcycle discussion. The paid membership would serve; as it's own filter and at merely $15.00 a year, the system is doing the job. The inability to hide behind a fake name, not being able to push the buttons of your comrades from the shadows has made our forum one of the most peaceful places to talk bike stuff, particularly ZX-14 conversation. Rarely do we even speak of the competition somehow we all have this keen sense we are each waiting for our seat as "fighter pilot" on the ZX-14.
So we have all of the corners covered with our site. The bases are loaded and we are waiting for KHI to hit the ball to start the game. If this ordeal ends at half the success it should, ZX14.NET would have accomplished what we set out to do in the first place. Be way different, lead not follow and hopefully remain the number one ranked ZX-14 based web site in the world for some time to come. The answer to that question is well worth the wait.
